Today, Cambridge Brain Sciences is proud to announce the World’s Largest Sleep Study in collaboration with world-renowned neuroscientists from Western University’s Owen Lab and the BBC. The purpose of this large-scale global study is to better understand exactly how sleep affects brain health at an unprecedented scale.

Why are you doing this?
If you’re like most people, your sleep patterns have a direct effect on your ability to think and function well the next day. But the link between sleep and cognition goes far deeper. Numerous studies have revealed that a lack of sleep is related to physical ailments such as heart disease, obesity, and diabetes and can impair cognitive abilities as much as alcohol. Yet the ability to function on just a few hours of sleep — to work around the clock on an assignment or drive home after a long day — remains a socially acceptable point of pride for many people.
Through this study, our goal is to learn far more about the impact of sleep on the brain than ever before. And what we learn ultimately has the potential to change how millions of people go about their daily lives.
Why should I participate?
By participating in this study, you’ll be joining tens of thousands of others helping neuroscientists answer pressing questions about how sleep affects the brain. Plus, as soon as you’re done, you’ll instantly receive a report that shows exactly how your own sleep patterns and brain health compare to thousands of other study participants.
What’s required of me?
It’s simple — participants will be required to track their sleep and play the full suite of Cambridge Brain Sciences tests over the course of 3 days. It’s free and open to the public, so feel free to share the news with others!
